Ms. Yoko Nitta

Associate Fellow of Research, RISTEX and Japan Science and Technology Agency

Yoko Nitta is currently Associate Fellow of Research Institute of Science and Technology for Society (RISTEX)/Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). She has been involved in Science Diplomacy in Japan intensely and is an official member of Science and Technology Diplomatic Circle in Tokyo building bridges in many international cooperative activities and has a keen interest in soft diplomacy. Also she has been a professional investigator in various fields including global affairs related with Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She previously served as an International Negotiator at RIKEN. Thus, she has well-acquainted with global affairs and negotiation strategies with interdisciplinary knowledge.

Ms. Nitta has organized the OECD workshops ‘Transforming Innovation to address Social Challenge’ and its approach is incorporated into OECD Innovation Strategy including Ministerial Conclusions in 2010. Also she has designed the agenda for the session AAAS 2011(American Association for the Advancement of Science) also as an organizer under title of ‘Design thinking to mobilize science, technology and innovation to social challenges ‘ in February 2011. She has global responsibility of shaping its agenda. In this role, she manages an exclusive list of top industry leaders, top knowledge experts, civil society leaders and government and public figures in pursuit of changing the state of the world. Thus, she has broad responsibilities for developing global bridge through her mission. Ms. Nitta now oversees an ambitious effort to cultivate soft diplomacy
