Colonel (Retd) Karandeep Singh served as an Infantry Officer in the Indian Army for 21 years before opting for voluntary retirement in 2009. A specialist in Counter Terrorist and Counter Insurgency Operations, he served in Sri Lanka as part of Indian Peace Keeping Force and three times each in the North East States of India as well as Jammu & Kashmir. He commanded a specialist Infantry Battalion in North East India and later in Jammu & Kashmir. Col (Retd) Karandeep was the Chief Operations Officer of a specialist Counter Terrorist Operations Brigade in Jammu & Kashmir commanded by General Bikram Singh, the current Chief of the Indian Army. He also served as Staff Officer, Intelligence, with the UN Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea. His last assignment was with the Military Intelligence (MI) in New Delhi wherein he looked after the North East Region and worked as the interface with the Ministry of Home and the National Security Council Secretariat.
Col Karandeep also worked as an instructor at the Infantry School Mhow (Military Tactics for Young Officers) and later became the Senior Instructor for their Weapons Wing. He was also an instructor at the Counter Insurgency School (West).
After his retirement, Col Karandeep worked for a little over three years with an Indian Information Technology (GIS) and Defense Multinational Company as a Vice President for the Delhi, North and North East Indian Region Sales and Business Development Head. He raised and set up the Homeland (Internal) Security department for this company in 2009-10 to address the rapidly growing Indian Homeland Security market. He is an expert in the Indian tender system for procurement and strategic business partnerships in the Homeland (Internal) Security market.
