Mr O.P. Singh is a senior official with the Indian Police Service (IPS) since 1983. He has held several positions of responsibility in the State of Uttar Pradesh as SSP, DIG, IG and ADG addressing issues of law and order, crime prevention, crime detection, traffic management, managing mega events (including Ardh Kumbh Mela of Allahabad), police telecommunication, intelligence, security, community policing etc. Mr Singh has served in Special Protection Group (PM’s security) as well as Central Reserve Police Force for almost a decade.
The Government of India has awarded him with the Indian Police Medal for Gallantry in 1993, Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 1999 and with the President of India’s Medal for Distinguished Services in 2005, the highest decoration for a police officer in India. He has won Commendation Discs of the Police Chief, besides several commendations and appreciations from the State Government of Uttar Pradesh and other authorities for excellent service-oriented policing in Ardh Kumbh Mela at Allahabad and resolving long-standing disputes between Shia & Sunnies at Lucknow in 1998.
Mr Singh holds a Masters Degree in Political Science and MBA in Disaster Management. He has a distinction of having graduated from National Defence College, New Delhi, a premier and prestigious institution of excellence in India. Presently, he is working with CISF as Additional Director General of Police looking after aviation security comprising all the airports of the country, security of sensitive Govt buildings and specialized VIP protection to certain categorized persons within the country.
